Nik is from Haiti and moving to America to go to school. He is excited to meet his new family, 3 brothers and 2 sisters and a dog. He is very scared to leave Haiti. Nik was scared on the plane but loved seeing the big city lights. He liked his new home, it was bigger than hes ever seen. The washing machine and dryer was very scary to him because he had never seen one before. His dog Luna was sweet and friendly. All of the food is very different. He didn't like ice cream or cake but he loved spaghetti and pizza. Nik was both excited and sad at bedtime. He's never had a room or a bed to himself so it was a little scary. His new mom stayed with him until he was ready for sleep. As he lied there alone, looking at the stars in the sky, he wasn't scared anymore because he knew his family in Haiti was looking at the same stars.

The man took the mule into town and piled a bunch of food in front of him to eat. there was another man there though. This man was holding a single piece of bread. At first the mule was confused with the choice. But something in that bread felt like his mothers love from a long long time ago. He was so shocked thinking how could this be? that he knelt in front of this bread he knew was the source of all love. Hoping this would show the mean man that love requires all of us to sacrifice sometimes. Next the elephant and papi roma meet a baby monkey eating a banana by her self. She's lonely, so they invite the baby monkey to join them. She shares her banana's with the elephant and Papi roma Next the monkey, elephant, and Papi Roma meet a baby bear who playing a game by himself, but is hungry. The monkey shares the bananas, they play the game with the bear, and then the continue to look for butterflies with Papi Roma. Next Papi Roma with her new friends meet a baby Giraffe stretching her long legs. The group invites her to walk with them and help catch the butterflies. As their walk concludes, the group comes upon papi roma's house where her mother is waiting for her on the porch. She asks, "Papi, how did you meet all these lovely friends?" Papi replies, "they are helping me catch butterflies".
