Sioux means "little snakes" and Deacon is a proud member of the snake house. Lakota are known for their warrior culture and their Ghost Dance to protect their lands. Lakota Sioux manly hunt and eat buffalo. They would eat chokecherries and enjoy herbal tea. They use the buffalo skin to make blankets and teepees and moccasins for their feet. They live in "Tipis" the Sioux word for dwelling. The Lakota Sioux live in North America clustered in what is now Wisconsin, Minnesota and North and South Dakota or the Great Plains. Lakota Sioux were known for their beadwork and porcupine quillwork. Lakota Sioux would use canoes to travel and dogs/sleds to pull things. When horses were introduced to them it changed their culture. Long hair is important to the Lakota Sioux and should not be cut unless you are mourning the loss of a loved one. Lakota children played with rawhide dolls and throwing the willow spear. It is important to pass on the Lakota traditions and remember their 7 values of respect, compassion, honesty, generosity, wisdom, humility, and prayer.

Emma and Huey, without a delay, Said, “We’ll help you, Santa, and save Christmas Day!” With a rope and their strength, they pulled with all might, And soon Santa’s sleigh was soaring in flight. “Thank you, dear Emma, and Huey as well, You’ve saved Christmas Eve with your kindness to tell!” As a gift for their help, Santa left a surprise: A golden collar for Huey and for Emma, bright skies. He flew off with a “Ho ho ho!” through the night, As Emma and Huey watched him fade out of sight. Back home they returned, hearts full of delight, Knowing they’d made the world brighter that night. And every Christmas Eve, as the snow softly falls, Emma and Huey still wait for Santa’s calls.

As the day went on, more people joined in. Soon, everyone was helping. Some brought brooms, others brought gloves. Even the birds seemed to sing louder as the park became cleaner. After hours of working together, the park was clean! The tree now stood tall and proud, with no trash around it. “We did it!” said Aum. “When we help others, we can do anything!” The friends felt proud of their hard work. “When we work together, we can do great things,” said Viaana. “We’ll always help others!” The tree swayed in the breeze, happy with its new clean home. From that day on, Viaana and her friends promised to always help others. They learned that with willpower, teamwork, and kindness, they could do anything, no matter how big or small!

Sally decided to take a closer look to see if she could help the fish. “Hey fish, what’s got you struggling so?” she asked. “I got caught up” replied the fish. “That fisherman is trying to take me for a ride” the fish continued. Sally looked up and saw the fisherman trying to reel in the fish. Sally thought for a moment, “why don’t you ask him to let you go?” she said. “Well I never thought of that,” remarked the fish. So the fish got up all of its might, jumped out of the water and yelled, “LET ME GO! Please!”, he said please because he was a polite fish after all. The fisherman didn’t move, he just kept trying to reel the fish in. “Well, what did he say?” asked Sally. “He doesn’t speak fish” replied the fish. Sally thought maybe she could try to talk to the fisherman. She flew over to him and said “excuse me, sir, but could you please let my friend the fish go?” But the fisherman only heard “caw, caw, caw caaaw, caw caw.” Sally flew back to the fish. The fish asked, “is he going to let me go?” “No” Sally replied, “he doesn’t speak seagull.” Just then a sea otter swam up, he had heard them talking and was wondering what the commotion was all about. The sea otter asked the fish, “what’s going on over here?”
